Canon Users: Magic Lantern + Lensbaby = perfect match

Magic Lantern is a free add-on firmware that runs on Canon DSLR (supported models at the moment: 5DmkII, 5DmkIII, 6D, 7D, 50D, 60D, 500D, 550D, 600D, 650D, 700D, 1100D and EOSM) that adds additional features to your DSLR.

Magic Lantern is a free software add-on that runs from the SD/CF card and adds a host of new features to Canon EOS cameras that weren't included from the factory by Canon

The number of features varies on the model, you can check this list.

Some of those features can help you a lot when using a manual lens, such as Lensbaby. Focus Peak and Magic Zoom are two great features for Lensbaby users, to make sure the image is tack sharp either if your using your live view to take photos or after shooting reviewing if the focus is as sharp as possible, allowing you to redo the photo again if not as sharp as you want.

Focus peak is great to have when you have your subject in focus, small dots show up on the live view so you know where you are focusing (dots will not show up on the photo or video, its just a visual aid). heres a short example:

Other interesting features are the Trap Focus, Zebras among many other features depending of what kind of photography you do.

Make sure to read properly the instructions and notice before installing ML (or check this video, may differ if you have a different camera model but the basics are pretty much the same). Make sure you have the Canon Firmware required to install ML

In case you have any doubts or feel insecure about installing ML on your camera model, just check YouTube, theres plenty of step by step videos that explain you how to do it (its not rocket science, you just have to take the proper steps and make sure the official firmware you have is the one requested).

Here's a introductory video Jake Coppinger.
